life as i know it...
| playbills |

it all started when i worked at the i.a.t.s.e. i remember my first time. i was at the annual lincoln center fundraising sale, and there was a table full of playbills, just waiting to be taken home, cared for, poured over, saved. so, i rescued them. about thirty of them in total during that first playbill shopping spree.

...and so it began.

broadway cares/equity fights aids flea markets. used bookstores. old-time i.a. members who knew i was a collector. family members. ebay. friends. and friends of friends.

that original stack of thirty has certainly grown through the years. and as i browse through them, especially the older ones from the 30's and 40's, and see the names of stagehands' sons and grandsons i'd worked with, and the names of stars who hadn't quite become household names yet, i find a quiet sense of history, holding each little piece of theatre in my hands.

as always, feel free to send along your broadway playbills. they'll have a good home, and they will be in good company.
